A Cake for No Occasion at All

About

Some cakes need a birthday. This one needs a Tuesday and a teaspoon you’re willing to lick.

It’s the French yogurt-pot method my neighbour taught me: measure everything in the empty yogurt jar, stir with a fork, and try not to feel smug when it turns out perfectly. Again.

Keep it on the counter, cut it with a butter knife

A cake under a dome on the counter changes the mood of a kitchen. People wander in, cut slivers, put the knife back guiltily. By Thursday it’s gone and the tin is asking to be filled again.
